Street Level Cycles

Youth bicycle mechanics education and bicycle reuse

About the Program

Street Level Cycles is our youth bicycle mechanics and bicycle reuse program. Youth interns learn professional bike repair refurbishing used bicycles, which are redistributed back to the community as affordable, sustainable transportation. Interns and staff provide free bike repair assistance in our weekend, do-it-yourself Community Open Shop.

We sell refurbished used bicycles, provide bike repair services, and offer bikes for rent.

Learn about our youth internship programs or check out our classes and camps.

Donate a bike

We accept bikes, bike parts, accessories as donation regardless of condition at our Retail and Repair shop Tuesday – Sunday 12-6pm at 84 Bolivar Dr. They are used as a teaching tool in our youth bicycle mechanics internship program, are refurbished and donated out to low-income individuals, and are sold in our retail shop as earned revenue to support our programs. We are rarely able to pick-up bicycles from individuals, but we do provide pick-ups for multiple bicycles (minimum 5) on a case-by-case basis. We also partner with Call2Recycle to safely and responsibly recycle electric bicycle batteries that have reached the end of their lifespan.

Bike donations are tax deductible.
Please contact us with any questions or for pick-up inquiries regarding large donations.

Public Workshop

On Saturdays and Sundays we open up our bike teaching space to the public. Anyone may come in and work on their bike using our tools and workstands. Our staff and youth interns are here to help you assess and repair your bike. While there is no charge for use of the space or tools, we suggest a $10/hour donation in order to support this community resource.

Open Shop is where the bulk of our used parts are located and available for purchase.

We also welcome volunteers to help us with sorting parts, assisting customers, and building and stripping bikes at Open Shop. Click the link below to fill out a brief form expressing your interest, and we’ll get in touch with more information.

Bike Giveaways

Each year we donate hundreds of bikes, helmets, and locks to youth and adults from the community who are facing barriers. We often will work with local community organizations and schools for these giveaways, but will also donate bikes to individuals on a case by case basis.
