Sewing Program
Sew Your Own News:
The Sew Your Own studio will be closing its doors at Waterside Workshops. Our last day of Open Studio will be Sunday, September 6. We will no longer be offering sewing classes, youth or adult.
As for the BurdaStyle Sewing Club, we will be looking for a new location to hold the meetings. Please contact Katie at sewyourown@watersideworkshops.org prior to 9/10 if you would like to be added to the BurdaStyle mailing list.
Many, many thanks to everyone who has supported Sew Your Own over the years! I especially want to thank everyone who has worked and volunteered in the studio and made it such a special place.
I wish everyone continued sucess with their sewing!

BurdaStyle Sewing Club: Katie has started up a BurdaStyle Sewing Club at Waterside Workshops! BurdaStyle is the open source division of Burda Patterns. They have a huge online community at www.burdastyle.com where members show off their creations, upload new patterns, and help each other with sewing related issues. In the same spirit, BurdaStyle is organizing Sewing Clubs worldwide so that we can meet, share, and sew in person. The club is open to all sewing levels. $5-$10 donation (whatever you can afford) each session. Please contact Katie at sewyourown@watersideworkshops.org for more information or if you'd like to join! UPDATE: Our next meeting dates will be 9/10 & 9/24 from 6-9 p.m.
Our mission is to teach values of manual skill, creative do-it-yourself-ism, re-use and repair in the realm of textiles. We provide space and tools for emerging designers and sewers at all levels. Here is an opportunity to learn to use an industrial sewing machine, repair your clothes, or just play and get inspired by working in a social setting.
We have an extensive array of industrial and domestic sewing machines including a walking foot, overlock, blindstitch hemmer, and coverstitch. Our machines can handle leather, canvas, and sails and we have a huge assortment of hardware, donated fabrics, notions, sewing and patternmaking equipment. We welcome sewing enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels.
