Waterside Workshops is a non-profit organization located in West Berkeley. We're here to strengthen the East Bay community by providing a place for youth and adults to work together on projects ranging from bicycle mechanics, to sewing, to wooden boat building,  so come by and check us out!  Click here for our HOURS OF OPERATION.

Our mission is to provide a safe and welcoming atmosphere where teamwork, dedication, and sustainability are illustrated through various handcrafts, skills, and outdoor experiences. We are committed to strengthening Bay Area neighborhoods by empowering people of all ages through hands-on education.

Waterside Workshops served over 250 youth in 2008.  Over 60% of those youth were low-income and 20% were living below the poverty line.  Donations from our community play a major role in supporting our free programs for low-income youth, please visit our Funding Waterside page for more information.

Vocational skills and job training are vitally important to older youth who will soon be entering the job market.  Below, our older interns show off their new skills.  Many of these young people are hired at Waterside, or placed in jobs with local businesses.

Younger interns attend our daily afterschool program to get a head start on valuable handcrafts and skills. Below, the construction of a Norwegian Pram begins.

Youth in our  boat building program have the opportunity to go on-the-water to explore boat design, learn about local ecology, and pick up trash from the shoreline.  We are committed to teaching young people about the ecology of Aquatic park in hopes of fostering the next generation of stewards who will help to protect it.

Generous donations from community members play a major role in allowing our organization to provide free services to youth and people in need.  To donate, please click the link below or visit our Donations page.
